How to get the gene list based on genomic position?

I have a genomic range (chr9:129377235-132308843)  and I would like to see which human genes are included in that range. Now, I am going to show how to do this by using the online tool TableBrowser (https://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTables) in UCSC.

ucsc table brower gene list by range

  • genome: Human
  • assembly: hg19
  • group: Genes and Gene Prediction
  • track: RefSeq Genes
  • table: refGene
  • position: chr9:129377235-13230884

Click “get output” button to have the result:

ucsc table brower gene list by range - result

You can load into Excel to manipulate the data.

Then, we can remove duplicates in Excel to get the distinct gene list.

Enjoy!!
